Managing your own practice means you become part of a competitive field. So, how do you drive sustainable advantage to help you stop thinking about your “competition”?

Private practice owners can employ several key measures to drive sustainable advantage and create a niche that has nothing to do with presenting issues and modalities.

By prioritising patient needs and providing high-quality, personalised care, private practices can build a strong reputation and foster patient loyalty.

Implement strategies to enhance the patient experience, such as reducing wait times, improving communication, and implementing innovative technologies that streamline processes and improve efficiency.

To do this, one must monitor client outcome measures. Anything is better than nothing.

Too many times I’ve witnessed practitioners signing up for professional development to learn new modalities and then when they are back in their practice, they are too nervous to use the modality. Don’t let this be you.

Encourage your practitioners to understand the client journey and how understanding client attendance, along with teaching clients to attend their sessions, has a huge impact on building strong relationships with the referral sources.

Develop a unique brand identity that communicates the practice's values, expertise, and client-centred approach. Don’t waste your time on social media unless you know what metrics to track.

If you are spending hours a week creating a reel for 30 people and 20 of them are already clients or are friends and family, this approach will NOT provide you any return.

Understand the benefits of your Practice Management System and don’t be afraid to use the technology it supports. This will improve efficiency, accuracy, and communication within the practice. Explore data analytics to gain insights into client trends and preferences, enabling targeted marketing and personalised care.

Private practice owners can drive sustainable advantage and outpace their competition by focusing on client care and satisfaction, investing in continuous professional development, implementing effective marketing strategies, and embracing technology.

By combining these measures with a commitment to excellence and innovation, private practices can establish themselves as leaders in the industry and thrive in a highly competitive healthcare landscape.
